|Alida Valli (1921 - 2006)
Ex-Mrs. Oscar de Mejo (painter)
Mother of Carlo de Mejo
|Manon Lescaut (1940) [Manon Lescaut]: Presumably shot to death by a Bedouin rider in the desert. (I haven't seen this version, but I have seen Cecile Aubry's death in the 1949 version Manon.)
I Pagliacci (Laugh, Pagliacci) (1943) [Julia]: Presumably stabbed by Beniamino Gigli. (I haven't seen this movie, but I'm familiar with the story of the opera.)
The Paradine Case (1947) [Mrs. Maddalena Anna Paradine]: Executed (off-screen), though I don't know the details. (Thanks to Andrea)
Eyes Without a Face (Les Yeux sans Visage; The Horror Chamber of Dr. Faustus) (1960) [Louise]: Stabbed in the neck with a scalpel by Edith Scob. (Thanks to Uncle Pat and Howard)
Lisa and the Devil (The House of Exorcism) (1974) [Countess]: Stabbed in the chest by her son (Alessio Orano). She returns as a spirit or zombie, walking towards Alessio until her falls out of a window. The original version, Lisa and the Devil, includes a scene (absent in The House of Exorcism) in which Elke Sommer discovers Alida's body (along with the rest of the corpses) sitting on board an airplane.
1900 (1976) [Signora Pioppo]: Impaled (off-screen) on the spikes of a wrought-iron fence by Donald Sutherland and Laura Betti; her body is shown lying on the fence afterwards. (Thanks to Gerardo)
The Cassandra Crossing (1976) [Mrs. Chadwick]: Shot to death by soldiers as she tries to run away through the train compartment.
Suspiria (1977) [Miss Tanner]: Dies when Jessica Harper kills the head witch, causing the destruction of the academy building and all the witch's followers. Alida is shown writhing in agony as Jessica makes her escape, and presumably dies in the subsequent fire.
Inferno (1980) [Carol, the Caretaker]: Falls from a window after being set on fire by a flaming curtain that falls on her, after she accidentally starts the fire by dropping a candle after discovering Leopoldo Mastelloni's body. (Thanks to Johan and Gerardo)
