Alison Steadman in 'The Singing Detective' (1986)
Alison Steadman (1946 - )
Ex-Mrs. Mike Leigh
The Singing Detective (1986) [Mrs. Marlow/Lili]: Playing a dual role, she dies twice: (1) "Lili" is shot in the back in the street by Nazi spies; she dies shortly afterwards as Michael Gambon kneels by her side. (This occurs in Michael's detective-story sequences.) (2) "Mrs. Marlow" commits suicide (off-screen) by drowning herself in the Thames River; her body is shown afterwards being pulled out of the water. (Note: There are several scenes of the body being pulled out of the water, but different scenes reveal a different face when the body is turned over; the body turns out to be Alison in the flashback/reality sequences, Kate McKenzie in the detective-story sequences, and Janet Suzman in one of Michael's hallucinations.) (Nudity alert: Topless & rear) (See also Carla Gugino in the 2003 remake.)

The Misadventures of Mr. Wilt (Wilt) (1989) [Eva Wilt]: Thrown off the roof of a parking garage by Griff Rhys Jones; this turns out to be a fantasy/daydream sequence. (Thanks to Shirley)
