|Othello (1965) [Desdemona]: Smothered with a pillow by Laurence Olivier. After her face is uncovered, she regains consciousness long enough to say her last words to Joyce Redman, then dies. (Evidently, the process of asphyxiation wasn't widely understood in Shakespeare's time.)
Love and Pain and the Whole Damn Thing (1972) [Lila Fisher]: It's been a long time since I've seen this movie, but I seem to recall that she died of a terminal illness in it. I don't remember whether she had an on-screen death scene, or whether Timothy Bottoms only learned of her death afterwards.
