|Martha Scott (1912 - 2003)
Mrs. Mel Powell (pianist/composer) (widowed)
|Our Town (1940) [Emily Webb]: Although the original play has the character dying in childbirth, this adaptation changed the ending so that she survives; I only mention it because I figured there'd be questions about its omission if I hadn't.
The Ten Commandments (1956) [Yochabel]: Dies (off-screen) of old age/natural causes; we learn of her death afterwards when Yul Brynner offhandedly mentions it to one of his men in front of Martha's son (Charlton Heston). (For this role, she was made up to appear much older than she actually was at the time; in real life, she was only 12 years older than her "son" Charlton.)
Columbo: Playback (1975) [Margaret Meadis]: Shot in the back by Oskar Werner. (Thanks to Lorenzo and Dignan)
