|The Private Life of Henry VIII (1933) [Anne Boleyn]: Executed by beheading. We see her being led to the block; the scene then cuts to inside the palace, where we hear the gunshot used to signal that the execution has been carried out.
Wuthering Heights (1939) [Cathy Earnshaw Linton]: Dies of a fever and inflammation of the lungs, while standing by the window while Laurence Olivier holds her in his arms. Laurence then carries her body over to the bed after David Niven enters. (See also Anna Calder-Marshall and Juliette Binoche in the 1970 and 1992 versions.) (Thanks to Jenny)
